The Astoria Variety Boys and Girls club hosted its first fashion show on Sunday, November 20, to give the club’s fashionistas a taste of the industry.

The show featured clothes from Limited Editions for Her, a nonprofit that provided professional outfits for club kids preparing for interviews, and Old Navy.

Limited Editions also provided fashion models for the show and girls in the club modeled the Old Navy clothes.

The club’s Teen Director Nifara Ali said the fashion show is important for the kids because “it gives them a whole other view of the club besides just their regular daily routine.”

She said, “some of them are interested in fashion but they haven’t really actually attended fashion shows, so we try to make this an elegant evening for them so they’ll see what the fashion models have to go through in order to be part of a show.”

Some of the teen girls also designed and created their own clothes to model in the show, Ali said.

The show also featured the ROTC color guard from Long Island City High School and performances from vocalists and the dance team.

Ali said the club hopes to host two fashion shows a year.
