An international business exposition that is now in its 18th year held it’s kick-off party for the first time ever in Queens last Thursday.

The Hermes Expo International, which has been promoting trade relations between the European Union, Eastern Mediterranean countries, and North America since 1992, has been held all over the country, but this year kicked off at the Queens Museum of Art with welcoming remarks in front of several European dignitaries followed by a Greek food and wine tasting.

The event was held in conjunction with the Queens Chamber of Commerce.

“This is a global event, and during these tough economic times, a global economy is more important than ever,” said Jack Friedman, executive director of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. “These are exactly the type of events our members need to be involved in.”

From the Queens Museum Art, the Expo moved to LaGuardia Community College, then to Atlantic City for a large trade show, finally wrapping up in Baltimore with a grand reception.
