Michael DenDekker, who just lost his Assembly seat to Jessica Gonzalez-Rojas this year, sent out a press release announcing that now that he is free from politics, he will be returning to his “entertainment roots.”
We had no idea this entire time that DenDekker had a former life as an actor!
His acting credits include small parts in Elementary, Law and Order, Feds, Billions, 30 Rock, Inside Man, American Gangster, Meet Dave, Miracle at St. Anna, You’re Nobody Till Somebody Kills You, and The Happening.
We’re sure they were just small background parts, but given the number of shows he has appeared in, it’s clear that DenDekker was dedicated to the hustle and didn’t just luck into being a bystander in Law and Order because his cousin was a production assistant for a season.
The former assemblyman has already written a pilot script for a television drama based on his own experiences as a first responder in New York City during and after the 9/11 era, as well as 44-episode story arcs.
He is also working on a political drama about his time in the state legislature.
“I’m excited for this next chapter in my life, which really is bridging my knowledge of and work in the city and state’s political arenas with my passion for storytelling and entertainment,” DenDekker said.
We guess if this doesn’t work out, he’ll always have politics to fall back on!
And here’s a friendly plug, DenDekker is currently looking for an agent to represent him. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, contact him through michaeldendekker.com.
