Msgr. McClancy baseball coach Nick Melito notched his 200th career victory as head coach with a win against rival Archbishop Molloy in late April.

“I really can remember my first win,” he said after his Crusaders trounced St. Edmunds last Tuesday. “It came against Christ the King in 2000. Feels like yesterday.”

Melito played on the McClancy team himself in the mid-1970s with Woodside’s own Don Cooper, former major leaguer and current longtime pitching coach of the Chicago White Sox.

His own McClancy team is on a hot streak this year thanks to the play of three Crusaders who scouts see as top major league prospects in Quentin Holmes and brothers Charlie and Ryan Neuweiler.
