A team of more than one-dozen NRG Energy employees volunteered to work on various electrical and maintenance projects at the Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens on 21st Street in Astoria last week. Pictured is Mike Schatz, NRG site manager at the Astoria plant, and crew with Variety executive director Terry Hughes. NRG Energy is a national company with a local site and the Astoria Gas Turbines. “These guys are such a gift for our facility,” said Hughes. “To get expert work like this saves us thousands of dollars.” Schatz also presented a $2,000 donation from NRG to the club.
