Never stand between comptroller and mayoral hopeful Scott Stringer and a microphone or photo opportunity.
His press conference calling for more off-peak subway service to keep up with ridership growth during those hours is nothing new. Stringer has periodically issued similar reports with the same complaints about subway service for years
How does Stringer propose offering the MTA millions of additional funding to finance increasing frequency of early morning and late-night subway service?
In the end, quality, frequency and reliability of service is dependent upon secure revenue streams. We all have to contribute, be it at the fare box or tax revenues generated at different levels of government that re redistributed back to the MTA.
There ain't no such thing as a free lunch, or in this case more subway service.
